Sunblocz Natural Sunscreen
What are sunscreens?

Sunscreens are products that protect the skin from the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays.
There are two types of UV rays, UVA and UVB, which damage the skin, age it prematurely, and contribute to skin cancer:
- UVB rays are the ones that cause sunburn
- UVA rays are mostly associated with skin aging.
Choose a sunscreen that says Broad Spectrum on the label as it will protect against both types of rays.
What’s the difference between chemical and physical sunscreens?
There are two types of sunscreens, chemical and physical and they both work very differently.
Chemical sunscreens contain chemical actives and are formulated to have a thinner consistency to be able to absorb into the body and bloodstream where the chemicals fight and break up the UV rays.
Physical sunscreens like Sunblocz contain the mineral active, Zinc Oxide, and are formulated to be slightly thicker where it can remain in the top layers of the skin to safely reflect and block the UV rays from entering the body.
Is Sunblocz Reef Safe?
YES, Sunblocz sunscreens are safe to use in sensitive marine parks and are coral reef safe. Made with 100% natural ingredients our sunscreens are as “Safe for the Earth as it is for the Skin”.
Our Broad-Spectrum, Water Resistant formulation is 100% reef safe and non-toxic to aquatic plants and animals, including coral reefs.
Allowed for use in Hawaii, Mexico, The Caribbean, Maldives and other national parks where sunscreen has been restricted or banned.
What makes Sunblocz better than the rest?
Sunblocz, is a patent protected, 100% all-natural mineral sunscreen. The formulation contains the highest percent of Zinc Oxide (non-nano) in a base of natural and anti-oxidant ingredients; the result is a safe, natural formula that offers superior sunburn protection for the whole family.
- Does not absorb into the skin and bloodstream
- Does not release chemicals to fight UV rays inside the body
- Contains Zinc Oxide as it’s only active and sits in the top layers of the skin, blocking and reflecting the suns UV rays (like a mirror).
- Works immediately upon application
Why Zinc Oxide and not Titanium Dioxide?
Zinc oxide is a better sunscreen active ingredient than titanium dioxide
- Zinc oxide the most effective UV absorber across the entire UVA and UVB spectrum.
- Zinc oxide is made from the critical mineral nutrient zinc instead of the toxic heavy metal, titanium.
- Zinc oxide holds tight to its electrons when it absorbs UV energy and limits the creation of free radicals that do damage to your cells and increase the risk of skin cancer.
- Zinc oxide is the sole sunscreen active ingredient approved for use on children by Health Canada and FDA.
Why are chemical based sunscreens less expensive compared to mineral sunscreens?
Manufacturing with natural ingredients is more expensive than chemical ingredients. We feel that peace of mind is worth the additional cost and a little whitening on the skin.
How much sunscreen should I apply?
- Adults – 1 oz or 2 tablespoons or enough to cover the skin of an average sized adult
- Babies and children- ½ oz or 1 tablespoon or enough to ensure complete coverage of skin that is exposed to sun
Make sure to re-apply sunscreen every 2 hours.
How long does it last and do I need to re-apply?
Sunscreens will protect the skin for 2 hours and need to be re-applied every 2 hours to be able to provide compete protection.
Is it safe to use on my child/baby, and how much should I use?
Our sunscreens are safe and effective for your whole family. If you plan on using sunscreen on babies under 6 months of age, Health Canada and FDA recommends consulting a doctor. This is a blanket recommendation as babies have very sensitive skin, and they believe the sun should be avoided during these early months. Recommended amounts of sunscreen are ½ – 1 ounce or enough to completely cover exposed skin. Re-Apply every 2 hours.
Why do I have to knead the tube before use?
We do not use any synthetic or chemical emulsifiers, binders, or preservatives so your Sunblocz sunscreen may experience a slight separation in the oils and waxes due to fluctuations in storage temperature.Kneading your tube before use will recombine all the natural ingredients
Is your Sunblocz sunscreen white?
Yes, and No. We have White and Tinted versions.
Our Sunblocz Baby+Kids is white, we left it that way because we want you to be able to see where it is on your baby, just in case you missed a spot. Don’t worry, it absorbs into the skin.
Our Sunblocz Tinted sunscreen contains natural Iron Oxides that masks the white casting of the Zinc Oxide.
How do I remove sunscreen from my skin?
Warm soapy water will remove sunscreen from the skin.
Will sunscreen stain my clothes? How do I remove stains?
Physical sunscreens that contain Zinc Oxide may temporarily stain some fabrics. The best way to remove a stain is to apply dish soap directly to the stain add a little hot water and gently scrub using a soft brush then launder as normal.
Staining can be minimized by letting the sunscreen absorb into the skin before allowing any fabric to touch it.
Does sunscreen expire? Where can I find the expiry date?
Our sunscreens have a shelf life of two years, we recommend you use the product within one year of opening, or when the expiration date is reached. The expiry date is usually found on the top seam of the tube.
Why do I have to wait 15 minutes after applying sunscreen to go into the sun?
You don’t have to wait with Sunblocz sunscreen as it works immediately upon application.
Most sunscreens on the market contain chemicals and it takes about 15 minutes for those chemicals to be absorbed into the skin and bloodstream where they fight the UV rays. Unfortunately, the labeling laws are outdated and still require all manufacturers to state those same directions on the labels.
I have allergies and very sensitive skin can I use your sunscreen?
YES. Our Sunblocz is a 100% all-natural physical sunscreen that will not harm you, or your children. Sunblocz is hypoallergenic, contains no chemicals and there have been no reports of any allergic reactions.
However, chemical sunscreens need a lot of different chemicals to provide both UVA and UVB protection, and as a result, they may cause irritation, allergies, and because they are absorbed by the body, they raise concerns over other negative health effects.
